12 Feb A Warm Welcome
Hi! Welcome to Thistle Hill Wellness.
I’ve always been interested in nutrition, health and wellness. It’s through my son, though, that has led me to learn as much as I can to stop chasing symptoms, stop treating symptoms, and get to the root of the problem with long-lasting solutions. And to truly see the importance and understand how bioindividual we really are.
Dawson suffered from severe allergies and asthma starting when he was a baby. He was on round after round of antibiotics and would only be off them for a short time. I received a call one day from his allergist stating that our son has significant immune issues. The plan of action included daily inhalers, nose sprays, and medications. I had such a strong feeling, while I didn’t know what I didn’t know, I saw this plan of action to cause more harm than good, suppressing his immune system even more. We needed to do more investigative work.
The road to finding out more answers along the way has led us to many doctors, chiropractors, dieticians and nutritionists. We did learn more, that our son has food and environmental allergies. Still, he continued to suffer from extreme dry skin, thyroid imbalance, developed gout in his foot, diagnosed with a fatty liver, and eventually autoimmune illness.
Being Dawson’s primary support person, I decided it was time to understand more clearly all of these things occurring and how to best support him. I started looking at various nutrition programs, schools, workshops, and finally settled on becoming a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP). The learning in school gave me a greater understanding and a new place to start supporting foundations, body balance, and getting to optimal health. And the experiences while supporting my family confirmed that health is definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach. This is why I will keep myself open to learning and stay focused on a whole, rather than a collection of its parts.
Thank you for being here. I look forward to sharing more with you!
